Leaf Acylic Painting

Preserved Sycamore Leaves

I took a class from artist Barb Halvorson, Winona MN painting on giant preserved sycamore leaves. She harvests the leaves from a tree near her home and preserves them in glycerin so they stay pliable, almost leather-like, and don't crumble like a typical dried leaf. The design is painted using acrylic paint.  These sycamore leaves are dinner plate size!!! Next time I photograph them I'll add a ruler!

The first one I did was the Eagle below. My favorite is the mouse peaking out of his hole with hidden acorns spillling out, framed in a shadow box!

I wish I had better pictures of these. I'll take better pictures from now on!! The pictures were taken right after I was done before framing and before they were sold.  The eagle and chickadee are still available.  And I will be adding more to my collection soon! I'mthinking about a tire swing in a tree and other birds and tree creatures.

The owl was done as a commission for someone's aunt who loves owls.  I welcome commissions!
